Older Adults Farmers Market Nutritional Program
The Baltimore City Health Department (BCHD) is relaunching the Older Adults Farmers Market Nutritional Program, designed to improve the nutritional health of older adults by increasing their access to fresh, locally grown fruits, vegetables, herbs, and much more.
Older Adults must be 60 years old or older, show proof of age, be a Baltimore City resident and meet income guidelines.
To apply for a card:
- Visit mda.maryland.gov
- OR for in person assistance, visit any of the locations on the dates listed below
Once applications are approved, cards will be mailed out to participants.
Facts
- Eligible older adults will receive a card worth $50.00 for fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, and honey.
- Once distributed, 2025 Farmers’ Market checks will be valid July 1, 2025 - November 30, 2025. During this time the card can be used at designated farmers’ markets and approved farmers throughout Maryland.
- Cards should be treated as cash and cannot be replaced.
- Cards will not be distributed at sites. They will be mailed out to residents once applications are approved.
- You do not need to be a member of a senior center to receive a card.
- A proxy designee may obtain cards for an older adult who is eligible. The limit is 2 per proxy.
- Cards are available on a “first-come, first-serve” basis

Eligibility Requirements
- Baltimore City Residents: proof of residence required
- Age 60 or older: proof of age required
- Your current gross income is below 185% of the Federal Poverty Level as shown in the chart below
